Phil Ochs war ein begabter Sänger/Songwriter der 60er Jahre, der alle möglichen Themen – wie Anti- Krieg, Zivilrechte, Arbeit und soziale Gerechtigkeit – in Amerika ansprach. Zu Ochs – Musik war für ihn ein Mittel, das eine Botschaft überbringen und mit unendlichem Optimismus junge Männer und Frauen auffordern konnte die Welt zum Besseren zu verändern, allein durch ihren Willen. In den späten 60er Jahren flossen die zunehmende Müdigkeit und die Ernüchterung mit dem Idealismus mehr und mehr in seine Kompositionen und seinen Gesang ein. Phil Ochs beging 1976 Selbstmord.
